Cross Over....

This month marked a lot of things for Emmalee, but for us, it was a realization that our little baby is crossing over into a whole new world.   There were so many times this month that I looked at Emma, she looked at me, and I realized that we now have a relationship, one that is reciprocated back and forth.  For a long time it has been us caring for Emmalee, and watching her grow.  Now we see her doing so many things for herself and caring for others.  She plays with us and looks to us with such knowing looks.  Her words are developing and so are her movements, the whole process is so incredible to watch!  One day she is into one thing, and the next she is in to something new.  Some things are still the same of course.  Her smile and laugh light up our hearts and she is mover and a shaker.  New to us, and so special to me, is her love of cuddling and books!  She LOVES her boppy, simply to put her head on and rest next to us.  There is NOTHING better than when you reach out for your daughter and she grabs your hand, or when she reaches out and falls into you for a hug!  We have been so used to grabbing her and holding on tight, and now she does the same to us........simply nothing like it in the world!

Another change this month was my return  to part time work as a substitute teacher, and it has worked out great, for myself, and for Emmalee.  I will admit I cried the first day leaving her, but she has really benefited from lots of one on one time with dad and some afternoons with my parents in Fall City. She has adjusted well, (as usual), and while I miss her every minute I am gone, the smile she gives me when I pick her up makes me know it is all okay!

We celebrated her 9 month birthday by taking her to the pumpkin patch, (for the second time), and we let her pick our her favorite pumpkin.  Of course we were racing with an approaching rain storm, but we made it, and always loved our visit to our favorite local nursery.  Emma loved her special day, especially her ride in her red wagon!

This months moments and favorites- There are ALOT!!

*Stood on her own, and now will not stop!
*Pushes away from us to go to sleep....she is done messing around!
*She has discovered that crawling is to slow for her, so she has resulted to bear crawling.  No joke, she is wicked fast!
*She found a new laugh, one that is more of a pant then anything else.  She seems to use it just to humor us.
*She got her first tooth!  Absolutely the cutest smile ever!  She does love to sharpen it on everything!
*She rode in the shopping cart and the swing for the first time and really is indifferent about either.  People in the store always comment that she looks ready for her nap, but the reality is she just woke up.  She just likes to chill and take it all in.
*first time in a swing, not a big fan.
*LOVES LOVES LOVES books and being read to
*Points at everything, and gives her finger a little wave while doing so, as if to say, ah ah ah.
*Says mamma ALOT, and dadda, but not sure she knows which is which.
*Has a love/hate with little things.  Literally she picks up every little speck of ANYTHING off the floor and makes a humming noise until we take it and clean it up.  The day she tore apart toilet paper was classic....she could not wrangle up all the little pieces and was humming like crazy!  Not sure if she enjoys it, or if the little pieces actually freak her out!
